About St Pancras
St Pancras’s name originates from the Latin name St Pancratius, a martyr who was killed at 14 with beheading. Famous church in the area St Pancras dates back to the 7th century, but was later rebuild in 12th. Most people living in the area later migrated and left the church abandoned in the local fields.
The Hospital for Tropical Diseases also known as St Pancras Workhouse, which was built in the late 17th century, and later relocated to another locale- it has been developed and rebuilt for more than 2 centuries and know enjoys the admirations of many visitos.
It has never been considered a high-class area and it later deteriorated with the railway termini. A great builder named Sir George Gilbert built the Midland Grand Hotel as well as St Pancras station- he also restored many stations and building over the years.
