About Ealing Town
Ealing Town shows sign of being occupied since Medieval times. Many of the roads in the area have a long history and have been rebuild plenty of times over the years. There are many funfairs and circuses including pony rides which many people enjoy all year long.
The famous Grange public house was built in the late 18th century. It was once a beer house and it was known as ‘the Cricketers’. Near Uxbridge Road was built a famous drinking fountain in 1878.
Since Ealing local board has been handling the management affairs of the common from 1880 and the station that opened a year before and many houses started to rise up. The Fordhook Farm fields remained until the end of the 18th century while many detached houses were being built in North Common Road. In the beginning of the 19th century a lot of houses got demolished and a big blocks of flats were built on their place.
