About Arkley
Arkley is a district of north London, nestled within the London Borough of Barnet. It is composed of three ancient hamlets- Arkley, Barnet Gate and Rowley Green. Its 482 feet above sea level, make the area one of the highest points in the British capital. It is still unknown where the name of the area comes from but it is clear that it was first recorded in 1332 (as Arkleyslond).
The area is rich in impressive buildings. One of which is St Peter’s Church. It was built in 1840. Another impressive building is the Arkley Windmill for corn which was in use by 1806. It was powered by steam and its work was ceased because of the World War I. Some of its initial features can still be seen.
