About Dagenham
Within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, the town of Dagenham is located. It was part of the historic Essex when it was an agrarian village. It started its development in 1921 when the Becontree estate was built. The increase of the population led to turning the area into an urban district in 1926 and a municipal borough 12 years later. It is part of the British capital since 1965.
There used to be five manor houses in Dagenham but only one of them can still be found- Valence House. It is located in a parkland and some of it is surrounded by a moat.
